I am not a big baker. But when I say these were easy, I mean easy peasy. Making these definately added to the holiday cheer!
These pecan chocolate bars are so delish, they are easily addictive. mmmmm.
1 cup chopped pecan(can do walnuts if you want)
12 whole gram crackers
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
3/4 cup of butter
2 Tbsp whipping cream
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp kosher salt
1 cup dark chocolate morsels(can get creative by using different morsel)
Directions:
Preheat oven 350, bake pecans in single layer in shallow pan 10 or until toasted, stirring halfway through.
Line a 15-x 10- jelly roll pan with aluminum foil or parchment paper; lightly grease foil. Arrange gram crackers in a single layer in prepared pan, slightly over lapping edges. I used a big baking sheet. It could be the same as a jelly roll pan, I actually have no clue. It worked for me.
Combine sugar, butter, and cream in a med sized heavy saucepan; bring to a boil over med heat, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat, and stir in vanilla and pecans. Pour butter mixture over crackers, spreading to coat.
Bake 350 for 10-11 min or until lightly browned and bubbly.
Immediately sprinkle 1 cup of the dark chocolate morsels, let stand for 3 min, and spread chocolate over bars. Then sprinkle with salt.
Slide foil/paper from pan onto a wire rack. Cool completely(about 30 min). With a knife, cut into bars.
*can omit chocolate chips, and just sprinkle salt once out of the oven.
makes about 4 dozen.
I double recipe and it was a ton to share or hoard to myself..."my precious, MY precious.."
Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!
